Statistical methods in global climate change research

Within the ENLIGHT network , the University of Göttingen, the University of the Basque Country and the University of Bordeaux are organising the online seminar "Statistical methods in global climate change research" .

The online seminar will consist of weekly sessions taking place from the 28th of October to the 9 of December 2022. PhD students will have access to an asynchronous lecture series that will be followed-up with a round table as a weekly synchronous, complementary format in which experts from the respective universities engage in a discussion with the doctoral researchers. The live sessions will be scheduled on Fridays, 2:00 to 3:30 pm CET.

Topics that will be covered include:

  • Climate change data visualisation
  • Generalized regression models
  • Time series analysis
  • Spatial statistics
  • Clustering techniques
  • High-performance data analysis and
  • Climate reconstruction and climate projections

Students who complete all assignments connected to the lectures and round tables will be awarded a certificate of attendance (equivalent to 3 ECTS) .
