DOCTORAL DAY (UPPA-UPV/EHU)

As part of the ongoing collaboration between the Doctoral Schools of the University of Pau and Pays de l’Adour (UPPA) and the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), UPPA is pleased to invite 10 PhD candidates from UPV/EHU to participate in its upcoming Doctoral Day. This event will take place in person on November 27th at the Pau campus, offering students the opportunity to present their research and network with fellow colleagues from both institutions.

Date

This face-to-face event will take place on 27 November at the Collège STEE of UPPA, Pau, France.

However, selected participants will be transferred during the afternoon of the previous day (Nov 26) and will be accommodated close to the venue of the event. The return journey will take place at the end of the day (Nov 27).

The UPV/EHU will be responsible for the costs of transport, accommodation and meals during the trip.

Format

Presentation format:

  • 3-minute speech: presentation of the thesis topic and objectives in an easy-to-understand way (main findings, main scientific objectives for the next year); and,
  • 3-minute: Questions &Answer, related to the 5 interdisciplinary missions (pdf, 1,8 Mb) listed below:
    • ENERGY: Organise energy subsidiarity at the territorial scale
    • TERRITORIES: Represent and build territories of the future
    • FRONTIERS: Questioning borders and meeting the challenge of differences
    • ECOSYSTEMS: Adapt coastal, forest and mountain ecosystems to make them more resilient
    • ENVIRONMENT: Concile development, a safe environment and preserved biodiversity

Requirements

  • Doctoral students enrolled in the second year or above.
  • Speaking fluent English is required.

Registration

The management team of the Doctoral School (DOKe) will choose two representatives of the UPV/EHU for each interdisciplinary mission from among those interested, taking into account the quality, diversity and transversality of the proposals presented and the variety of areas of expertise represented. For this purpose, interested persons should attach a brief summary of their presentation (maximum 300 words) to the registration form.

Doctoral Day Programme

  • 10:00-10:30: Welcome session
  • 10:30-12:30: PhD student presentations (parallel sessions)
  • 12:30-14:00: Lunch
  • 14:00-16:30: PhD student presentations (parallel sessions)
  • 16:30-16:45: Closing session
