TRALIMA- ITZULIK addresses the study of translation and cultural transfer within the fields of literature and audiovisual media from a historical and descriptive perspective and by making use of new technologies (Digital Humanities). The research lines of the group are focused on the analysis of the linguistic, cultural and social mechanisms that occur in the translation of different written and audiovisual media across different historical contexts. The historical perspective and the descriptive translation studies methodology applied are the distinguishing features of the group.

The main areas of research are as follows: Translation and censorship: focused on the study of translation and censorship across a variety of text genres and language combinations in Spain (1939-1985), as well as on the development of tools for compiling and analysing parallel and multilingual written and audiovisual text corpora. http://corpusnet.unileon.es/

Translation from and into Basque: focused on the study of literary and audiovisual translations from and into Basque from a historical and descriptive perspective.

Audiovisual translation and accessibility: focused on the study of audiovisual and intersemiotic translations (e.g. including cinema and television) from English/ German/ French into Spanish/ Basque, as well as on accessibility to the media.

TRALIMA-ITZULIK: Translation, Literature and Audiovisual Media (University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU, GIU 16/48) is a consolidated research group recognised and funded by the Basque Government (2010-2012, 2013-2015, 2020-2022), and by the University of the Basque Country (2013-2019), integrated in UPV/EHU UFI (Training and Research Unit (11/06). TRALIMA-ITZULIK group participates in Spnanish Ministry-MINECO Networks of Excellence CorpusNet-Multilingual Reseources and Applications (FFI2016-81934-RED) and ALMA- Accessibility and Minority Languages in Audiovisual Media (RED2018‐102475‐T).
