2024: Research Stay at the Dublin City University (Ireland)

Amaia Arrinda visited the Performance Engineering Lab  in the School of Electronic Engineering at Dublin City University (DCU), directed by Prof. Gabriel-Miro Muntean.

 

 

During her stay, Amaia learnt from researchers from different cultural backgrounds, including: Ireland, Romania, Brazil, France, India, Pakistan and Iran, techniques and the fundamentals for simulating and developing performance-based solutions in the area of Smart Grid communications.

The research stay covered the period 30 August 2024-29 November 2024.

June-August 2024: Research at the Western University (Canada)

 

 

Jon Montalbán stayed on a research stay at the Western University, in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

 

 

 

He was supervised by Professor Xianbin Wang.

The research stay covered the period 26th June 2024-26th August 2024.

2024. Research Stay at the University of Genoa (Italy)

Igor Fernández stayed as an invited professor at the Universitá degli Studi di Genova (University of Genoa), in the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering and Naval Architecture.

He was supervised by Professor Andrea Mariscotti.

The research stay covered the period 29th April 2024-31st July 2024.

2023. Research stay at the Tampere University (Finland)

Guillermo Díaz stayed as a predoctoral researcher at the Tampere University, from 5th September to 20th December 2023, under the supervision of Professor Bo Tan.

During the research secondment at the University of Tampere, Guillermo Díaz worked on a Deep Learning model for human activity detection and Federated Learning.

2023. Research stay at the University of Oulu (Finland)

 

Iñigo Bilbao stayed as a predoctoral researcher at the University of Oulu,  from 15th May to 15th August 2023, under the supervision of Professor Markku Juntti.

During the research secondment at the University of Oulu, Iñigo Bilbao worked on Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based Physical Layer Security (PLS) systems.

2023. Research stay at the University of Applied Sciences (FHTechnikum Wien) in Vienna (Austria)

 

Jon González stayed a predoctoral researcher at University of Applied Sciences (FH Technikum Wien) in Vienna (Austria) from 13th February to 12th June 2023.

 

During this period of time his research activities focused on the characterisation of the impedance variations and emissions generated by the charging processes of electric vehicles (EVs) in a controlled low-voltage network at the FH Technikum Wien. Furthermore, the influence of these two aspects on Narrowband Power Line Communications (NB PLC) was analysed.

2019. Research stay at the Dublin City University (DCU) in Ireland

Iratxe Landa stayed as an invited professor at Dublin City University (DCU) in Dublin (Ireland) from 2nd October to 29th November 2019.

During this period of time her research activities focused on the study of location and tracking of indoor radio users based on their radio-wave signals. The particular technology investigated was an Ultra Wide Band real-time positioning system, in conjunction with Time Difference of Arrival (TDOA) position estimation. The work involved developing theoretical models and comparing the outcome to observed results using a deployed system.

Marta Fernández stayed as a postdoctoral researcher at ECIT (The Institute of Electronics, Communications and Information Technology) at Queens University Belfast (United Kingdom) from 1st August 2019 to 31st October 2019.

 

During this period of time her research activities focused on analyzing the effect that the human body can have on millimeter wave communications.

Eneko Iradier stayed as a predoctoral researcher at Communications Research Center (CRC) in Ottawa (Canada) from 8th July 2019 to 10th August 2019.

During this period of time he worked on the study of Next Generation Digital TV in-band backhaul systems by using full duplex transmissions with LDM. Besides that, he also took part in field tests, where DTV field strength and loopback signal were measured.

Iratxe Landa stayed as an invited professor at Griffith Engineering School, Griffith University in Brisbane (Australia) from 4th October 2017 to 30th December 2017.

 

During this period of time her research activities focused on the simulations using the commercial three-dimensional electromagnetic simulation software (CST Microwave Studio) and measurements in order to study the radio interference effects in weareble receivers for gastrointestinal pill tracking.

2016. Research stay at the Telecom Bretagne in France

 

Jon Barrueco made an international predoctoral stay starting on 28th August 2016 in Brest (France).

He developed a low complexity demapper based on condensation and adaptive sub-region (SCASR) selection for two-dimensional non-uniform constellation (2D-NUC). Besides, a new set of NUCs based on demapping restrictions have been designed providing low demapping complexity with negligible system performance losses.

Cristina Regueiro made an international predoctoral stay from 5th May to 3rd September 2016 at the ETRI (Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute) in Daejeon (South Korea).

 

During this period of time she performed several ATSC 3.0 laboratory measurements and the first field trials were carried out.

2013. Research stay at the Università di Corsica Pasquale Paoli - Université de Corse Pascal Paoli (University of Corsica) in France

Iratxe Landa made an international postdoctoral stay from 10th September 2013 to 9th January at Università di Corsica Pasquale Paoli - Université de Corse Pascal Paoli (University of Corsica) in Corsica (France).

 

During this period of time she was involved in the improvement of the real time fire image capture system. Her contributions were in three projects: the evaluation of the accuracy of a new GPS system used to calibrate the vision systems in fire spreading experiments; the remote control of an infrared camera and the development of a new system to control the real-time acquisition of images.

Iker Sobrón stayed as postdoctoral researcher in the SMT Lab from 1st January 2013 to 31st December 2014 at Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil).

During this period of time he was involved in the development of new adaptive algorithms for the cooperative detection of the spectrum in cognitive radio networks.

During this period of time his research activities focused on (he was involved in the) research of propagation and noise in the 26 MHz frequency band for DRM local services.
