Alexander Gallarreta stayed as a predoctoral researcher at National Physics Laboratory (NPL), the National Metrology Institute (NMI) of the United Kingdom from 1st March to 30th June 2023, under the supervision of Ph.D. Stefano Lodetti.

During the research secondment at NPL, Alexander Gallarreta worked on defining measurement methods for the characterization of impulsive disturbances, extending existing techniques up to 500 kHz, and evaluating alternative methods to CISPR 16 for the distribution grid.

During this period of time his research activities focused on the characterisation of the impedance variations and emissions generated by the charging processes of electric vehicles (EVs) in a controlled low-voltage network at the FH Technikum Wien. Furthermore, the influence of these two aspects on Narrowband Power Line Communications (NB PLC) was analysed.

Iratxe Landa stayed as an invited professor at Dublin City University (DCU) in Dublin (Ireland) from 2nd October to 29th November 2019.

During this period of time her research activities focused on the study of location and tracking of indoor radio users based on their radio-wave signals. The particular technology investigated was an Ultra Wide Band real-time positioning system, in conjunction with Time Difference of Arrival (TDOA) position estimation. The work involved developing theoretical models and comparing the outcome to observed results using a deployed system.

Jon Barrueco made an international predoctoral stay starting on 28th August 2016 in Brest (France).

He developed a low complexity demapper based on condensation and adaptive sub-region (SCASR) selection for two-dimensional non-uniform constellation (2D-NUC). Besides, a new set of NUCs based on demapping restrictions have been designed providing low demapping complexity with negligible system performance losses.

Iratxe Landa made an international postdoctoral stay from 10th September 2013 to 9th January at Università di Corsica Pasquale Paoli - Université de Corse Pascal Paoli (University of Corsica) in Corsica (France).

 

During this period of time she was involved in the improvement of the real time fire image capture system. Her contributions were in three projects: the evaluation of the accuracy of a new GPS system used to calibrate the vision systems in fire spreading experiments; the remote control of an infrared camera and the development of a new system to control the real-time acquisition of images.
