Introduction to the Numaps Group
The NUMAPS (NUtrition MAnagement in Plant and Soil) research group has as its main objective the study of nutrient use efficiency by plants, to contribute to the seek for solutions to overcome present agricultural problems, in particular, the negative consequences of the excessive use of nitrogen (N) fertilizers.
We approach this objective from a multidisciplinary point of view, that goes from working with model plants to crops, from laboratory experiments to field trials, and that involves the use of multiple techniques including analyses from molecular studies focused on deciphering the function of a gene, to the agronomic level.
The research of the group is structured around three main lines, which are interconnected and allow us to understand the plant-soil-atmosphere system in an integrated way.
