Jabier Mendizabal
Biography
Jabier Mendizabal San Martin completed his Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Mondragon (2020). Afterwards, he obtained the Master's degree in Biomedical Technologies at the University of Mondragon (2021). He has worked in additive manufacturing technologies applied to the health sector such as bioprinting, electrospinning or melt electrowritting. In March 2024 he joined the Group `Materials + Technologies´ (GMT) of the Chemical Engineering and Environmental Department at the Faculty of Engineering, Gipuzkoa (UPV/EHU) with a research contract funded by the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa. His research focuses on the development of conductive inks for 3D printing based on biopolymers and graphene.
Research
In 2022, he worked on the creation of a skin-inspired alginate dressing for wound healing and regenerative medicine with the inclusion of reduced graphene oxide. In 2023, he worked on the creation of electrospun meshes based on polyvinylpyrolidone with GO and ZnO for skin dressings with antibacterial properties.
Currently, he is working at GMT under the supervision of Kizkitza Gonzalez for the creation of flexible pressure sensors using alginate-gelatin hydrogels with graphene.
