Biography
Irati Barandiaran obtained de title of Chemical Engineering in July of 2011, in the Faculty of Science and Technology at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). At the beginning of 2012 she incorporated to the research group "Materials + Technology" of the department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, at Engineering College of Gipuzkoa, where she started her doctoral thesis about nanostructured polymeric materials with magnetic properties, supervised by Doctor Galder Kortaberria. In order to perform this thesis she obtained a Ph.D fellowship from UPV/EHU. In October of 2012 she finalized the Master in Renewable Materials, and in March of 2016 she obtained the title of international Doctor. During her doctoral thesis she did a stay of three months in "Technische Universität München".
Currently, she is working with a postdoctoral fellowship obtained in 2018.
Research
The research of Irati Barandiaran is about nanostructured block copolymers and about nanocomposites based in those block copolymers and nanoparticles. Lasts years she has worked in modifying the surface of nanoparticles with polymer brushes, in order to improve the compatibility with the block copolymers. She mainly has worked with magnetic nanoparticles, analyzing the magnetic behavior that these nanoparticles transfer to the nanocomposites.
