Traveal and Stay
Travel
Vitoria’s Airport (VIT) is 9 kilometers away from the city’s center and it has direct connections to several cities. Connection from the airport to the city is available by bus.
It is also possible to travel from Bilbao’s Airport (BIO), which offers much more flight connections. To travel from Bilbao you must first take a bus from the airport to the city center. The bus departs from the arrivals area. It takes about 25 minutes to get to Bilbao’s Intermodal, the main bus station in Bilbao. Once there, you take another bus (45 minute-1 hour ride) to Vitoria-Gasteiz. Taking a taxi is a more expensive alternative.
If you would rather travel in train, you may wat to check Renfe’s website to update the information on train connections from or to different Spanish cities, schedules and fares.
To travel in bus, ALSA is the company that offers a more extensive range of lines to and from different main cities in Spain (also to some airports, such as Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas airport). If you reach Vitoria-Gasteiz in bus, the city’s main bus station is far from the city’s downtown and/or the conference main venue. You can have a long walk, take a taxi or use the tram.
