The main objective of the IKERTU NAhiEN project is to create a network of researchers who carry out research work from the point of view of the cross-border rural environment.

Project Summary:
As a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic that hit the world in 2020, there has been a resurgence of interest in society and especially among people living in large cities in moving their lives to municipalities and towns with lower population density and a closer relationship with nature. As a result, the needs, concerns and demands of rural inhabitants have become apparent.
The unification of this interest in the rural environment existing in society is one of the main objectives of the IKERTU NAhiEN project and, to this end, the creation of a collaboration network of cross-border academic agents will be made possible. This network will be made up of researchers who continue their research to offer multidisciplinary solutions with a positive impact on the rural environment of New Aquitaine, the Basque Country and Navarre. This network of academic agents will promote research in Basque, Spanish and French that will develop lines of action and future solutions that respond to the current problems of the mountain territories.
