ATLANTIC AREA

The Interreg Atlantic Area 2021-2027 supports transnational cooperation in the Atlantic regions of four countries: Portugal, Spain, France and Ireland. It commits with the Atlantic regions in the support of innovative initiatives that contribute to the growth of this area, solving common challenges across border through the implementation of joint actions, exchange of good practices and contribution to new or current policies.

  4. A better Governance for Cooperation

Cooperation area: 

  • ESPAÑA: Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria, País Vasco, La Rioja, Navarra, Andalucía, Islas Canarias.
  • FRANCE: Nouvelle Aquitaine, Pays-de-la-Loire, Bretagne, Normandie.
  • IRELAND: Northern and Western, Southern, Eastern and Midland.
  • PORTUGAL: Norte, Centro, Lisboa, Alentejo, Algarve, Região Autónoma dos Açores, Região Autónoma da Madeira.

BLUESKILLING INNOVATION - Upskilling workers in the Atlantic shipbuilding and maritime tech industry to boost industrial competitiveness, sustainability and blue innovation.

Project objective: The overall objective of the project is to deliver innovative training and skills to workers and researchers in the shipbuilding industry and the maritime tech value chain with a focus on digitalistaion, green transition, sustainable connectivity and cutting-edge technologies to increase their contribution to the generation of value for the companies, and to encourage their rapid adoption for a cleaner industry.

Project Summary: BLUESKILLING INNOVATION will deliver the necessary skills to boost blue innovation, strengthen industrial competitiveness and accelerate the deployment marine renewables and green shipping technology in the Atlantic area. The shipbuilding and maritime tech sector has the challenge to lead the maritime digital/green transition and blue innovation to meet the goals of the Green Deal and have carbon neutral, sustainable and healthy seas by 2050. The project will deliver innovative training and skills to cover the gaps that are hampering the fast deployment of maritime innovation in green and offshore tech. The results will be open and transferable to other European regions and will benefit students, researchers, workers, companies, administration and society. Transnational cooperation will be key to benefit from the expertise from each region, exploit synergies and complementarities to deliver the most useful innovative training to meet the common challenges.

This project is co-financed by the Interreg Atlantic Area Programme through the European Regional Development Fund.
