Inoiz ez zuen Siddharthak gizakirik hainbeste goretsi eta maitatu.

Y Siddhartha nunca había amado y admirado tanto a un ser humano como a aquel.

Jamais Siddhartha n'avait éprouvé pour un mortel un tel sentiment de vénération. Jamais il n'avait ressenti tant d'amour pour un homme.

Never before, Siddhartha had venerated a person so much, never before he had loved a person as much as this one.

Biek hiriraino jarraitu zioten Budari, eta isilean itzuli ziren, egun hartako janariei uko egitea erabakita.

Los dos amigos siguieron a Buda hasta la ciudad y volvieron en silencio, pues tenían la intención de no probar alimentos ese día.

Tous les deux suivirent le Bouddha jusqu'à la ville et s'en retournèrent en silence, car ils avaient l'intention de passer cette journée sans prendre d'aliments.

They both followed the Buddha until they reached the town and then returned in silence, for they themselves intended to abstain from on this day.

Gotamari so egin zioten itzuli zenean, jarraitzaileez inguraturik ikusi zuten jatorduan-jaten zuenak ez zuen txori bat ere aseko-eta Mango zuhaitzen artean erretiratu zenean.

Gotama taught the teachings of suffering, of the origin of suffering, of the way to relieve suffering.

Lasai eta argiak ziren haren hitzak.

Como agua mansa y cristalina iban fluyendo sus palabras.

Ses paroles paisibles coulaient comme une eau tranquille et claire.

Calmly and clearly his quiet speech flowed on.

Sufrikarioa zen bizitza, oinazez betea mundua, baina oinazetik askatzerik bazen:

La vida era sufrimiento y el mundo estaba lleno de dolor;

Souffrir c'était vivre, le monde était plein de souffrances, mais le moyen de s'en délivrer existait et celui-là le trouvait qui suivait la route de Bouddha.

Suffering was life, full of suffering was the world, but salvation from suffering had been found:

Il parlait, le Sublime, d'une voix douce, mais ferme ;

With a soft, yet firm voice the exalted one spoke, taught the four main doctrines, taught the eightfold path, patiently he went the usual path of the teachings, of the examples, of the repetitions, brightly and quietly his voice hovered over the listeners, like a light, like a starry sky.

Hainbat erromes hurbildu ziren beregana, eta komunitatean har zitzala erregutu zioten, doktrinan babesa hartu nahi zuten.

Aceptadla e id por el mundo como hombres santos, para poner fin al sufrimiento.

Acceptez-la donc et parcourez le monde en saints hommes pour mettre un terme à la souffrance.

Thus join us and walk in holiness, to put an end to all suffering."

-Yo también deseo refugiarme en el Sublime y su doctrina. Pidió que lo acogieran entre los discípulos y fue admitido.

"I also take my refuge in the exalted one and his teachings," and he asked to accepted into the community of his disciples and was accepted.

Ondoren, Buda gaueko atsedena hartzera erretiratu zenean, Govinda Siddhartharengana hurbildu zen, eta urduri hitz egin zion:

Ambos hemos oído al Sublime; ambos hemos escuchado su doctrina.

Tous les deux nous avons entendu le Sublime, tous les deux nous avons écouté sa doctrine.

We have both heard the exalted one, we have both perceived the teachings.

Zuk, ordea, hainbeste miresten zaitudan horrek, ez al duzu askapenaren bidea ibili nahi?

Tras escucharla, Govinda ha buscado refugio en ella.

Govinda a entendu la doctrine et il s'est réfugié en elle.

Govinda has heard the teachings, he has taken refuge in it.

Nahiago al duzu zalantza?

Pero tú, apreciado amigo, ¿no estás dispuesto a recorrer también el Sendero de la liberación?

Mais toi, ami vénéré, ne veux-tu pas entrer aussi dans le sentier de la délivrance ?

But you, my honoured friend, don't you also want to walk the path of salvation?

Oraindik itxaron nahi duzu?

¿O acaso vacilas y prefieres seguir esperando?

Hésites-tu, veux-tu attendre encore ? "

Would you want to hesitate, do you want to wait any longer?"

Govindaren hitzak entzutean, Siddhartha amets batetik bezala esnatu zen.

Siddhartha despertó como de su sueño al oír las palabras de Govinda.

Siddhartha sembla s'éveiller en entendant les paroles de Govinda.

Siddhartha awakened as if he had been asleep, when he heard Govinda's words.

Denbora luzez bere lagunaren aurpegiari so egin zion. Gero, ahots apalez eta burlarik gabe, esan zuen:

Govindak ez al du inoiz berak bakarrik urratsik emango, ni gabe, bere arimaren bultzadaz?

" Est-ce que Govinda ne fera pas une fois un pas tout seul, sans moi, du propre mouvement de son âme ? ".

Won't Govinda for once also take a step by himself, without me, out of his own soul?

Ikusi, orain gizon bihurtu zara, eta zuk zeuk hautatzen duzu bidea.

Y ahora veo que te has hecho un hombre y has sabido elegir tu camino.

Et voilà que maintenant tu deviens un homme, et que tu choisis toi-même ta voie.

Behold, now you've turned into a man and are choosing your path for yourself.

Iritsiko ahal zara azkeneraino, ene lagun! Lortuko ahal duzu askapena!

¡Ojalá lo sigas hasta el fin, querido amigo! ¡Y ojalá encuentres la liberación!

Puisses-tu la suivre jusqu'au bout, ô mon ami ! Puisses-tu trouver la délivrance !

I wish that you would go it up to its end, oh my friend, that you shall find salvation!"

Govindak ez zuen guztiz ulertzen, eta galdera errepikatu zuen ezinegonez:

Govinda, que no había entendido cabalmente las palabras de su amigo, repitió en tono impaciente su pregunta:

" Govinda, qui ne saisissait pas entièrement le sens de ces paroles, répéta sa question d'un ton d'impatience :

Govinda, not completely understanding it yet, repeated his question in an impatient tone:

Esadazu ezin dela bestela izan:

¡Te lo suplico, querido Siddhartha!

" Mais parle donc, mon cher, je t'en prie !

"Speak up, I beg you, my dear!

zu ere, ene lagun jakintsua, Buda handientsuaren babesera joango zarela!

Dime, pues no puede ser de otra manera, que también tú, mi sabio amigo, buscarás refugio junto al sublime Buda.

Dis-moi donc, comme il ne peut en être autrement, que toi aussi, mon docte ami, tu vas embrasser la doctrine du Sublime ! "

Tell me, since it could not be any other way, that you also, my learned friend, will take your refuge with the exalted Buddha!"

Siddharthak Govindaren sorbaldan pausatu zuen eskua:

Y Siddhartha replicó, apoyando una mano sobre el hombro de Govinda:

Siddhartha posa la main sur l'épaule de Govinda :

Siddhartha placed his hand on Govinda's shoulder:

I wish that you would go this path up to its end, that you shall find salvation!"

Orduan ohartu zen Govinda, lagunak utzi egingo zuela, eta negarrari ekin zion.

En ese momento Govinda cayó en la cuenta de que su amigo lo había abandonado y rompió a llorar.

À cet instant Govinda s'aperçut que son ami s'était déjà éloigné de lui et il se mit à verser des larmes.

In this moment, Govinda realized that his friend had left him, and he started to weep.

-Siddhartha! -egin zuen oihu.

-¡Siddhartha! -exclamó sollozando.

" Siddhartha ! " s'écria-t-il en gémissant.

"Siddhartha!" he exclaimed lamentingly.

Siddhartha maitasunez mintzatu zitzaion:

Uko egin diozu etxeari, zure gurasoei, uko jatorriari eta jabetzari, uko zeure nahiari ere, uko adiskidetasunari.

Has renunciado a tu patria y a tus padres, a tu origen y a tus propiedades; has renunciado a tu propia voluntad y a cualquier sentimiento de amistad.

Tu as renoncé à ta patrie, tu as renoncé au gain et à la propriété ;

You have renounced your home and your parents, renounced your birth and possessions, renounced your free will, renounced all friendship.

Horrela eskatzen du doktrinak, horrela nahi du handientsuak.

Así lo quieren la doctrina y el Sublime.

tu as renoncé à ta propre volonté, tu as renoncé à l'amitié.

This is what the teachings require, this is what the exalted one wants.

Horrela nahi izan duzu zuk zeuk.

Así lo has querido tú mismo.

La doctrine le veut ainsi.

This is what you wanted for yourself.

Bihar, Govinda, utzi egingo zaitut.

Mañana te abandonaré, Govinda.

Demain, ô Govinda, je te quitterai.

Tomorrow, oh Govinda, I'll leave you."

Luzaz ibili ziren adiskideak zuhaixka artean, luzaz etzan ziren, loak hartu gabe.

Largo rato continuaron deambulando ambos amigos por el bosque; largo rato estuvieron tendidos sin conciliar el sueño.

" Longtemps encore les deux amis se promenèrent dans le bois, longtemps ils demeurèrent couchés sans trouver le sommeil.

For a long time, the friends continued walking in the grove; for a long time, they lay there and found no sleep.

Govindak behin eta berriz galdegin zion Siddharthari, zergatik ez zuen Gotamaren doktrinan babesik hartu nahi, zein zen doktrinaren akatsa.

Y Govinda preguntaba una y otra vez a su amigo qué motivos le impedían refugiarse en la doctrina de Gotama y qué le parecía reprobable en ella.

Et à chaque instant Govinda insistait auprès de son ami, afin que celui-ci dît pourquoi il ne voulait pas embrasser la doctrine de Gotama et ce qu'il pouvait bien lui reprocher.

And over and over again, Govinda urged his friend, he should tell him why he would not want to seek refuge in Gotama's teachings, what fault he would find in these teachings.
