I specialise in Applied Linguistics, particularly in the field of language policy in multilingual societies. I earned my Ph.D. in 2017 in Sociolinguistics from Heriot-Watt University (Edinburgh), United Kingdom as a prestigious James Watt Scholar.  My doctoral research (2012-16) offered new insights into the intersection between governmental and grassroots level family language policies in contemporary Galicia, north-western Spain. Currently, I am the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation’s Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), Spain where I am investigating the intergenerational transmission of Basque and Galician. Between 2020-21, I worked as a Senior Research Associate at the Royal Galician Language Academy (Spain). Prior to this, I worked as an Arts and Humanities Research Council’s (United Kingdom) Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Queen’s University Belfast between 2017-19 where I investigated the educational language policies and inclusion practices concerning migrant newcomer children (e.g., Indians, Polish and Hispanics) in Northern Ireland and Scotland. Moreover, since January 2021, I am a visiting researcher at the Leiden University Centre for Linguistics (LUCL) where I initiated the LUCL Virtual Research Seminars Series on Language Policy and Practices in the Global North and South which received nearly 1500 registrations around the world. In addition to these roles, I also work as the Book Reviews Editor of Sociolinguistic Studies journal (Scopus and Q2), Equinox Publishing, UK.
