Naroa Lopez obtained her PhD in Chemistry in 2023, carried out at the Department of Analytical Chemistry of the UPV/EHU and entitled "Application of effect-directed methods and suspect screening strategies for an integrated assessment and prioritisation of organic contaminants in aqueous samples". During her thesis, carried out in the Environmental Contamination and Toxicology programme, she evaluated the presence and potential impact of contaminants of emerging concern in aqueous ecosystems. To this end, she used several analytical techniques, such as liquid chromatography coupled high-resolution mass spectrometry (LC-HRMS), as well as working with different bioassays to identify cause-effect relationships following the effect-directed analysis (EDA) strategy. Currently, she is a postdoctoral researcher since she obtained the postdoctoral research staff development grant from the Basque Government in 2024, and is a guest researcher at the Department of Cellular Toxicology of the Helmholtz Center for Environmental Research (UFZ, Leipzig, Germany), where she will carry out her research integrating effects-based and analytical methodologies for the risk assessment of emerging pollutants for the environment and human health.
