PhD Researcher

PhD in Environmental Contamination and Toxicology
Faculty of Science & Technology

Iker is a postdoctoral researcher at the IBeA group since he obtained a postdoctoral fellowship for the improvement of research staff from the Basque Goverment in January 2023. Currently, as part of this program, he is doing an stay as invited researcher at the Effect Directed Analysis Department (WANA) fromthe Helmholtz Center for Environmental Research (UFZ, Leipzig, Germany) where he is working on the development and implementarion of high-throughput strategies of effect directed analysis (HT-EDA). Durign his PhD at UPV/EHU, within the Environmental Contamination and Toxicology progrma, he worked on the development of new methodologies to automate the effect directed analysis, as well as in the identification of emerging contamiants in drinking water, residual water and some aquatic microorganisms. Moreover, he also worked on the metabolic study of adverse effects these contaminants have over the health and theeel migrational behaviour (Anguilla anguilla).  Thus, Iker is specialized on the analysis of emerging contamaints and endogenous metabolites using liquid chromatography coupled to high-resolution mass spectrometry (LC-HRMS).
