MPS-GC-MS (Q)
The multipurpose sampler-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry system (MPS-GC-MS) allows the determination of organic compounds integrating the extraction of the analytes from the sample matrix. The MPS (Gerstel) can be used as a workstation for sample preparation integrating different modules to carry out different extraction procedures (Twisters, SPME, etc.) and injecting the analytes using either an SSL injector or a thermal desorption unit. The gas chromatograph consists of a 6890N GC (Agilent Technologies) whereas the mass spectrometer (MSD 5975, Agilent Technologies) consists of a quadrupole low-resolution mass analyzer. The instrument allows the ionization of the analytes by means of the electron ionization source and the acquisition can be done in both full scan and selected ion monitoring modes. Data acquisition is done with the MAESTROTM software (MPS) and ChemStationTM software whereas data processing is carried out with MassHunterTM software allowing the use of the NIST spectral library for target and suspect screening approaches.
