Biography

Patricia Gullón is graduated in Science and Food Technology, University of Vigo (2006). She conducted her doctoral studies in University of Vigo, and she obtained her Ph.D. in 2011 with a scholarship Formación para Profesorado Universitario (FPU). Dr. Gullón worked, at the same time, in the National Laboratory for Energy and Geology of Lisbon (Portugal) and in the Dairy Institute of Asturias (IPLA-CSIC) (Villaviciosa, Asturias). In 2012, she obtained a postdoctoral grant (Foundation for Science and Technology, BPD-FCT) for the 2012-2015 period, in the Center for Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry of the School of Biotechnology of the Portuguese Catholic University in Porto (Portugal). Currently, she is a postdoctoral researcher in the BioRP Group at the Polytechnic School of Donostia-San Sebastián, University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU).

Research

Her research is focused on the use of lignocellulosic materials from agro-industrial sources. The aim has been the solubilization of the hemicellulose fraction using environmentally clean processes, and their purification by membrane technology to obtain rich solutions in oligosaccharides for food application.

At this point, Dr. Gullón has published 19 articles, 2 proceedings, 2 book chapters and 3 patents, and she has participated in twenty Conferences, both international and national. Beside this, she has participated in two national research projects, one international project, and one company project.
