Association

This is the conference of to the Iberian Association for Translation and Interpreting Studies (AIETI), whose foundation dates back to February 2003.

Since then, its agenda has revolved around the following main goals:

  • To promote scientific reflection and exchange on the field of Translation and Interpreting.
  • To broadcast the development of Translation Studies as a field of study.
  • To stimulate the advancement of formal education on Translation Studies, also contributing to the increase of quality in professional areas.

The association has grown thanks to the support of individual and institutional partners, as well as the through the work done by former boards. Visit the association’s website to know more about the AIETI.

Biennial conferences are the best opportunity for partners to get to know each other and build new networks that facilitate cooperation. 

Until now, ten different editions of this conference have been held:

  1. In 2003: The foundational conference at the Universidad de Granada.
  2. In 2005: «Formación, investigación y profesión», first conference in Madrid (Universidad Pontificia de Comillas)
  3. In 2007: «Mediación lingüística y cultural en el siglo XXI», first time in Catalonia (Universitat Pompeu Fabra).
  4. In 2009: «Traducir na fronteira», first conference in Galicia (Universidade de Vigo).
  5. In 2011: «Actualidad e Investigación en los Estudios de Traducción e Interpretación», the conference is held for the first time in Valencia (Universitat Jaume I).
  6. In 2013: «Traducimos desde el Sur», first edition in the Canary Islands (Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria).
  7. In 2015: «Nuevos horizontes en los Estudios de Traducción e Interpretación», at the University of Málaga.
  8. In 2017: «Superando límites», at the Universidad de Alcalá
  9. In 2019: «Translatum Nostrum — El mestizaje desde el Mediterráneo», at the Universidad de Alicante.
  10. In 2022, after a year of delay due to the pandemic: «Circum-navegaçôes transtextuais e culturais», the only edition up to date that has been celebrated in Portugal (Universidade do Minho).
In 2024, the AIETI conference will be celebrated in the Basque Country for the very first time.
