Methodology
Teaching on the Master's in Painting is centred on practical work in the studio, with continuous critical feedback from both students and teachers. The programme also includes a theoretical element, to complement and support students' practical training. The programme has both Obligatory and Optional modules: theoretical, practical, and theoretical-practical, annual duration in all cases. The Master offers external practices in entities and companies related to the practice, teaching and exhibition of art, which will be mandatory. The programme consists of theory classes, tutorials, seminars, studio practice, and placements. Ultimately students are working towards their Master's thesis: an exhibition of their work together with an accompanying catalogue or report.Assessment
The assessment of each subject is outlined in the information published on the Master's page. All subjects are taken in-person and as such it is an element which will be assessed alongside others, with a specific calculation for each subject. Hence this grade will be based on students¿ performance in each subject. The Master¿s faculty meets each academic year to contrast the various experiences students have had.The Master's final grade will be awarded based on an assessment of the Master's thesis (presented publicly) and an individual face-to-face viva before a board. In order to progress to the exhibition and defence of the Master's Thesis students must have passed all obligatory modules, 33 credits in optional modules, and 6 credits in practical modules.Firstly, with respect to works exhibited each student's progress will be taken into account, as well as their professional approach to results, in terms of quality, innovation, opportunity, and use of technical resources. In the case of appeals or any other eventuality decisions will be made by the Master's Academic Committee first, and if no resolution is reached the usual procedures will be followed, via the Department of Painting, the Dean of the Fine Arts Faculty, or the UPV/EHU Vice-Chancellor's Office.- Number of credits ECTS : 12
