Master Thesis | 12 | -- |
Methodology
The Master's Degree in Mathematical Modeling and Research, Statistics and Computing can be obtained after 60 ECTS credits have been passed. 48 ECTS correspond to 8 optional subjects and 12 ECTS to the master's thesis. The dynamic of the optional subjects is face-to-face classes in a single university. The individual work and practices can be performed by students at their home university with some eventual face-to-face or online tutorial sessions supervised by the teachers. The master's thesis has to be supervised by a teacher of the University or by a Doctor working on a company. In any case the practical work has to be based on a technical or theoretical problem that covers some of the competences of the Master's Degree. In order to complete the master's thesis it has to be submitted a manuscript explaining the problem under study, the formulation and the results obtained. In addition, an oral presentation of the work will be done. The master's thesis can be done in a group.Assessment
In the optional subjects the students work under continuous evaluation system. The grade obtained by the student will be in accordance with the level of the practices and works presented. In some cases, a written or oral examination may also be considered. The master's thesis together with an oral presentation will be assessed by a committee consisting of three master's teachers. The manuscript of the master's thesis must be delivered to the members of the committee a few days before the oral presentation.Observation: Students who request it, will be able to undergo a differentiated evaluation, that can consist of a unique test, or in a set of tests and works. In those subjects whose nature requires inexcusably the presence of the students to check the knowledge of the corresponding competences, it might exceptionally be required the attendance to certain face-to-face classes and to fulfill the corresponding evaluation tests established therein. The students must apply for a differentiated evaluation by written notification addressed to the Coordinator of the Master program, specifying the reasons. The application can be sent since the beginning of the enrolment period until a maximum of five days later than the beginning of the course and it will be accompanied by all documents explaining the impossibility of following the face-to-face classes. The Academic Committee of the Master will answer within a maximum period of twenty days.- Number of credits ECTS : 12
