I graduated in Biology at the University of the Basque Country and after defending the master’s thesis on macrofungal community topic, I had a FPU predoctoral grant which enabled to obtain my PhD under the supervision of Dr. Isabel Salcedo in the same university. Through the monitoring of fungal sporocarps in permanent plots, our hypothesis that macrofungal community changes along a local latitudinal gradient under the same forest ecosystem was demonstrated. I did four short stays at foreign universities, and I keep collaboration with some of them.

Nowadays I am assistant professor in Plant Biology and Ecology Department in Pharmacy Faculty engaged in many subjects related with plant biology and conservation. I teach mainly in Environment Science degree being coordinator of the third course, but I am also involved in Pharmacy and Human Nutrition and Dietetics degrees, as well as in Biodiversity Master.

In the course of my research career I have been involved in many topics of mycology such as, fungal diversity, community ecology, Red List of threatened fungal species, ectomycorrhizal and arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis study, or ectomycorrhization in habitat restoration, which has led to many contributions. Recently, I focused my research on the study of arbuscular mycorrhizal in interaction with Phaseolus vulgaris under ecological and conventional agriculture, and started to collaborate with researchers both from Argentina and Europe.
