Methodology
The Master's programme is run entirely online, using the Moodle platform made available through the UPV/EHU Virtual Campus.Students will communicate with each other and teachers exclusively online: students and teachers must both commit to maintain a regular and ongoing presence on the virtual platform. The credits are made up of both theory and practical modules:-Subject training (40 ECTS credits).-Work placement at collaborating institutions (6 ECTS credits).-Master's thesis presentation. Student presentation. (14 ECTS credits). The Master's programme is made up of study blocks, subjects, and topics. There are three main blocks:-Block I: Foundation Subjects. The objective of this study block is to bring all students coming from different disciplines (such as biomedicine and engineering) to the same point. It gives all students a foundation in the common concepts they will need to move forward in different subjects (4 ECTS credits).-Block II: Obligatory Subjects. These form the backbone of the theoretical content of the Master's programme. The block will cover content relating to different subject areas, which will then be built upon and developed in subsequent blocks (27 ECTS credits).-Block III: Optional courses. A more in-depth study of subjects, covering the latest trends in biomedical engineering (9 ECTS credits).Assessment
Continuity of learning is essential for students to get the most out of the teaching. As such, the course programme has been put together in a way that ensures there is continuity of blocks, subjects, and topics. To ensure students are learning the course content effectively, assessments (adapted according to the nature of the subject) are carried out in all subjects throughout the learning process. Tests are adapted to fit the nature of each subject. Student participation (and interactions with other students) will be evaluated, along with the completion of practical exercises (such as development of topics, in-depth questions, concepts, and traditional test assessments). Students will also be required to carry out self-evaluation reports for each subjects. In order to pass the subjects on the Master's programme, there will be two exam sessions per academic year (which students must attend without exception). Any subjects marked "Absent" will be recorded and noted as a "spent" exam period (this will not apply to students suffering from an ongoing illness for more than a term, duly justified, nor other instances of force majeure). To remain on the Master's programme students must score over 75% in both Obligatory and Optional subject exams. Any cases of extenuating circumstances (different to those previously mentioned) which may occasionally prevent students from following the usual learning path of the Master's programme will be looked into by the Inter-University Academic Committee who may allow students to recover course content.- Number of credits ECTS : 14
