Methodology

The Master's in Banking and Quantitative Finances is a 2 year course (6 terms), totalling 120 ECTS credits. The first year consists of studying 60 credits in obligatory subjects. Over the first two terms of the second academic year, students must enrol on subject units equalling 30 credits, chosen from the optional subjects available each year as part of the Programme. Once they have passed 90 taught credits they will conduct a research project (30 credits).Subjects are taught in-person, and tutors are available for students to see inside of tutorial hours as announced on GAUR (academic platform).

Assessment

Compulsory and optional subject units will be assessed by means of a final exam at the end of the teaching period, as well as through the assessment of exercises or assignments regularly set for students to complete individually. The Master's in Banking and Quantitative Finances Academic Committee organise a Workshop in Banking and Quantitative Finances every year, where second-year students will present their Master's theses. In recent years the programme has signed a collaboration and funding agreement with FUNCAS to hold the Workshops at their headquarters in Madrid.During the Workshop a visiting professor external to the four participating universities specialising in the subject matter will discuss and debate each of the Master's theses. Each university will appoint a specialist board to assess the Master's theses of the students enrolled on the programme at their university. This board will be in charge of producing the final grade, taking into account the opinions of the external discussant and the Master's thesis supervisor.
