International Congress “Literary transitions / literatures in transition”

Between January 15 and 17, 2025, the International Congress “Literary transitions/literatures in transition” will be held at the Faculty of Letters of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), in Vitoria-Gasteiz, organized by the IdeoLit research group: Literature as historical document. The main objective of this congress is to reflect on the concept of transition in a broad way, understanding it as a time of change in the historical, collective and individual, vital or literary trajectory, a stage in which new knowledge, new epistemologies, new ways of understanding life and experience. This future, which is separated from the previous stage and is proposed as a promise of the future, opens space for emerging discourses, new imaginaries, new expressions of experience, new individual and social identities and affects all traditions. Precisely, we focus on the literary documents that articulate the reflection on the end of an era, on the experience, narration and representation of the end of that era, and the step that this represents towards a new one, which is presented as novel or as destruction of the previous period. This first conference organized by the IdeoLit Group is aimed at all those researchers who study literature from classical times to the present, always in relation to the concept of transition.
We invite you to share your thoughts, photos and highlights on social media using our official hashtag: #ideolit2025. It will be a great way to connect with other attendees and expand our conversations beyond the sessions.
