Description and Contextualization of the SubjectToggle Navigation
Biochemistry is one of the basic subjects of the first course of the Dentistry Degree. The subject serves as support for other subjects such as Biology or Physiology. To take the subject it is highly recommended to master the basic principles of organic chemistry.
In the professional field, this subject serves as a basis for knowledge of oral disease.

Ordinary Call: Orientations and DisclaimerToggle Navigation
The written exam consists of test questions, short answer questions and exercises. It is valued with 8 points. The practices, work carried out and their presentation are valued with 2 points.
In accordance with the new Regulations for Student Evaluation of Undergraduate Degrees (BOPV nº50, March 13, 2017):
-1. Students may waive the continuous (or mixed) evaluation system and opt for the final evaluation, regardless of whether or not they have participated in the aforementioned continuous evaluation (Article 8.3).
-2. The procedure and deadlines that students must follow to carry out the resignation will be at least 9 weeks for semester subjects, counting from the beginning of the semester, in accordance with the center's academic calendar. Thus, interested students must submit in writing to the responsible teaching staff their resignation from the continuous (or mixed) evaluation in accordance with the established procedure and deadlines (Article 8.3).
In the final evaluation, the master teaching will be evaluated in a final test that will consist of multiple choice questions, short questions and a topic to be developed. The grade for this type of teaching will contribute 60-80% to the final grade.
Laboratory practices will be evaluated through exercises, evaluated in each practice, and will constitute 20-40% of the final grade.
Likewise, in accordance with the new Regulatory Regulations for the Evaluation of Students of Degree Degrees (BOPV nº50, March 13, 2017), it is established to adopt for the waiver of the call for evaluation of the 4th course of the Degree in Biochemistry and Biology Molecular the following criteria:
-1. Students may waive the evaluation call, which implies that it will not be counted and will be recorded as Not Presented (Article 12.1).
-2. In the case of continuous evaluation, students may withdraw from the call within a period that, at least, will be up to one month before the end date of the teaching period for the corresponding subject. This resignation must be submitted in writing to the teaching staff responsible for the subject (Article 12.2).
-3. When it comes to final evaluation, failure to take the test set on the official exam date will mean automatic resignation from the corresponding call (Article 12.3).
During the development of the evaluation tests, unless the teaching team authorizes the specific use of certain devices or teaching material, the use of books, notes or notes, as well as telephone, electronic, computer, or other devices or devices will be prohibited. another type, by the students. In any case of dishonest or fraudulent practice, the provisions of the protocol on academic ethics and prevention of dishonest or fraudulent practices in evaluation tests and academic work at the UPV/EHU will be applied.
If the evaluation tests cannot be carried out in person, they will be adapted to a non-face-to-face evaluation.
