Dr. Garechana serves the Department of Business Organization of the University of the Basque Country (UPV / EHU) as a researcher and teacher. His areas of interest include innovation management in organizations, science and technology indicators, text mining tools and scientific evaluation methods. It is part of the TFM Research Group, conducting to date Scientometric studies oriented to the characterization of science and technology that have been published in several reference journals in their area. He is also a regular contributor to congresses:

- Congress of Engineering in Organization (CIO)

- Global Tech Mining Conference (GTM)

- Science and Technology Indicators Conference (STI)

Other services provided by Dr. Garechana include participation in several consulting and research contracts, with prominent clients such as several regional and national statistical agencies, technology-based companies, universities, innovation promotion organizations, etc.

The teaching done to date corresponds to the general business administration subjects in charge of the Department of Business Organization of the UPV / EHU.
