Description and Contextualization of the SubjectToggle Navigation
Sport performance success relies on different capacities and the ability to know and work them out. In this subject the student will be able to identify and get the tools to measure them. With this purpose, existing measuring methods of each conditioning capabilities will be presented, theoretically and practically.
Nowadays high performance sport needs professional profiles of Exercise Sciences graduates, capable to make an effective assessment of athlete’s needs under verified quality standards.
Skills/Learning outcomes of the subjectToggle Navigation
-Transversal competences:
G021. To develop excellence and quality standards in the professional practice of sport training. (Worked but not evaluated).
G022. To know and act under the necessary ethic principles for a correct professional practice in the field of sport training. (Worked but not evaluated).
- G017. To understand the physical activity and sport scientific literature in vernacular languages and other languages specific to the scientific and technological fields.
-Subject competences:
CE1. Apply the scientific method to the different fitness assessment methods. Learning results: the student will be able to apply the scientific principles for different measurements, tests and athletes evaluations.
C02. To know the right fitness assessment methods according to sport discipline and the type of athlete. Learning results: the student will know what type of fitness evaluation corresponds to each sport discipline according to scientific criteria, athlete’s needs and practicity.
C03. Execute different exercise testing protocols. Learning results: the student will be able to apply different protocols in order to make an evaluation of the athlete.
C04. To understand different testing data for its integration in the training process. Learning results: the student will be able to make an interpretation of the information obtained from the tests that are performed for the performance evaluation.

-Assessment of sports technique: kinetics and kinematics.
UNIT 6: Psychological assessment.
UNIT 7: Biological assessment.
-Biomarkers for sports performance.
MethodologyToggle Navigation
Theory will be presented at magisterial sessions. Attendance is NOT compulsory.
Class practices and laboratory practices will be used to go into detail about theory concepts. After each practice session students will have to submit an individual or group practice reports.
Transversal competences will be worked on but will not be evaluated.
Assessment systemsToggle Navigation
- Final Assessment System
- Tools and qualification percentages:
- Multiple-Choice Test (%): 80
- Realization of Practical Work (exercises, cases or problems) (%): 20
Ordinary Call: Orientations and DisclaimerToggle Navigation
In order to pass the subject in ordinary call, evaluation could be made in two ways:
-Mixed evaluation: 70% of final grade with a multiple choice test, 30% with practices grade.
-Final evaluation: those students that could not take the mixed evaluation according to the 64th article of the Student's Regulation of the UPV/EHU, will be able to take the final evaluation. In that case, final grade will be determined as 100% of the grade obtained in the multiple choice test.
In both evaluation types, not attending the exam will be enough to waive the ordinary call.
Extraordinary Call: Orientations and DisclaimerToggle Navigation
To pass the subject in extraordinary call, a written exam scoring the 100% of the final mark should be passed.
Not attending the exam will be enough to waive the extraordinary call.
Compulsory materialsToggle Navigation
In this course, it will be compulsory to use the eGela platform.
