Research-An overview

Research: An overview

In the Energy Engineering Department, various research tasks are carried out by means of the different Research Groups, also in collaboration with companies, Technology Centres and Public Administrations.

  • Energy efficiency in buildings, both in terms of the building envelope and facilities.
  • Renewable energies in the marine environment: offshore wind and solar photovoltaic energy, as well as nearshore and offshore wave energy.
  • Meteorology, climate and environment, due to climate change and its impact on the availability of water, wind and wave resources.
  • Alternative internal combustion engines, mainly in applications associated with maritime and industrial transport.
  • Assessment of the impact of radioactive emissions in the biosphere and their characterisation, as well as Automatic Radiological Surveillance.
  • Characterisation of candidate materials for fusion reactors, using techniques that analyse the interaction of different gases.
  • Water meter verification and calibration tests, obtaining error curves and extending useful life according to Order ICT/155/2020.
