This doctoral programme aims to be the main route whereby students of the Master's degree in Control Engineering, Automation and Robotics and students of the Master's degree in Industrial Engineering at the UPV/EHU can complete their doctoral studies. However, in general, other graduates from the fields of Automation, Computing, Electronics and Industrial Engineering coming from other master's degrees at this or other universities, and who are interested in Control, Automation and Robotics, can apply for a place in this programme, providing they have the backing of a teacher from the Doctoral Programme.

There are no specific complementary training modules for the course. However, considering graduates with either Bachelor¿s or higher degrees may choose to study the course (all of whom must have at least 300 ECTS credits, but whose studies may not have included specific training in research) students applying may or may not be required to pursue training in research competence, based on their entry profile.This training will entail between a minimum of 4.5 and a maximum of 9 ECTS credits in subject modules from the official Master¿s courses offered by UPV/EHU in the field of Systems Engineering and Automation, or other equivalent training in research skills. The following areas will be taken into account when assessing applications for the doctoral programme.If the number of pre-enrolments is greater than the maximum number of students allowed on the programme, the Academic Committee will make their selections based on the following criteria:- Degree (25%)- Academic transcript (35%)- Professional experience (15%)- Research experience (15%)- Other merits:* Languages: English language competence will be assessed following the CEFR framework (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2) for example the University of Cambridge First Certificate (FCE) qualification (level B2), CAE (level C1), etc. (5%)* Training placements at other centres (5%)

Procedure for assigning a faculty member as a doctoral thesis tutor and director

Once a student has been accepted onto the doctoral programme, the Academic Commission will assign them a tutor and at least one director from among the faculty at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) participating in the programme.

When a letter of endorsement is required from Doctoral Programme, director of the candidate will be the person indicated at the endorsement letter. No candidates will be accepted without endorsement letter, when it is required by doctoral programme.

Tutors are responsible for interactions between the doctoral candidate and the Academic Commission. They are also responsible for adapting training and research activities to the principles of the programmes and, where appropriate, the Doctoral School.
