Aim
The training of future nursing professionals needs to incorporate the competencies that have been established by Tuning Educational Structures in Europe (González and Wagenaar, 2008) and the Reference Points for the Design and Delivery of Degree Programmes in Nursing (Gobbi et al., 2011). This necessity is making educators question the way in which teaching-learning processes are taking place in Higher Education.
Taking this context into account, BaNER Group (Basque Nurse Education Research Group) promotes new projects in order to improve the learning process of nursing students by designing, implementing and evaluating teaching materials based on active methods such as case the Case Method, Problem Based Learning, Guided University Debate (GUD) and Educational Escape Room.
In order to help students achieve the professional competencies required for nursing practice, BaNER Group members come from a wide range of knowledge areas, including mental health nursing, adult nursing, geriatric nursing, public health, biology and psychology.
