Graduate in Physics (1990), M.Sc. in Electronics (1992), M.Sc. in Radiocommunication (1993), with a project awarded as best project of the master's degree, and Ph.D. in Physics (1999) by the UPV/EHU. Doctoral thesis on optical fibers, with an extraordinary doctoral prize. Professor in the Dept. of Communications Engineering since 1995 (where he has been a Full Professor since 2003). He has taught more than ten subjects with contents in circuit analysis, optical communications, linear networks and systems, microwaves, antennas, signals and systems, etc. He currently teaches the subject "Circuit Analysis" in the Degree in Telecommunication Technology Engineering, and the subject "Optical Communications Systems" in the Master in Telecommunication Engineering. He has participated in educational innovation projects within Educational Cooperation Programs, and is using the results achieved to improve his undergraduate classes.
He is also a member of the research group called "Applied Photonics Bilbao" since its creation with only two people in 1993. This group is currently considered a group of excellence and, within the group, he has the opportunity to collaborate with world-renowned research centers (more information on our web page http://appliedphotonicsbilbao.org/). In addition, it has published numerous important research articles. It has 4 sexenios of research.
