Federico Recart Barañano
Curriculum vitae
Federico Recart Barañano (b. Bilbao, 1970) holds an undergraduate degree (1994) and a PhD (2001) in Telecommunication Engineering from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). He has been a tenured lecturer at the Electronic Technology area of the Faculty of Engineering in Bilbao since 2003.
In teaching, he has made a major contribution to the fostering of Basque as a vehicular language in the subjects taught by the Electronic Technology Department. As a result, he has produced several publications for teaching in Basque.
His track record as a researcher is attested to by the three six-year research periods that he holds, and marked by his membership since 1993 of the Semiconductors Group and his role in helping to found the Institute of Microelectronics Technology (TiM) at the UPV/EHU. His work focuses on technologies for manufacturing crystalline silicon photovoltaic cells and on the characterisation of PV devices. He has take part in numerous research projects. He is the co-holder of several patents and has authored many scientific papers and presentations at international congresses. He has done postdoctoral research at the Australian National University (ANU) and the Energy Research Centre of the Netherlands (ECN). To date he has directed three PhD theses.
From October 2013 to January 2021 he was Head of Workforce Planning at the Vice-Rectorate for Teaching & Research Staff of the University of the Basque Country.
