Eva Ferreira García

Curriculum vitae

Eva Ferreira is the new head of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). Graduated in Mathematics by the University of the Basque Country, she obtained the Master’s degree in Probability and Statistics in New York University and the Phd in Economics by the University of the Basque Country. Since 2005, she holds a full professorship in Applied Economics.

She has a long and consolidated trajectory in research, advisor of several doctoral thesis, research projects and author of dozens of publications in the most prestigious academic journals in my area of research. Related to teaching, apart from a long experience in graduate courses, she was the promoter and director of both, a master and a doctorate program (Quantitative Finance) that is ranked among the best in Europe.

In the government board at the University of the Basque Country, she held several positions, as vice-rector for economic affairs and academic programs from 2004 to 2008, and as general secretary between 2009 and 2012. From 2015 to 2019  she was the chief director of Unibasq, the agency for the quality of the Basque University System.

On 2021 January 25th, she was named rector of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU).
