Ixone Fernandez de Labastida (Vitoria-Gasteiz, 1979) holds a Diploma in Social Education (2000), a Degree in Social Anthropology (2002) and a Master's in Equality between women and men. Equality Agent (2010) and PhD holder in Society and Culture (2012).

As assistant lecturer in the Department of the Philosophy of Values and Social Anthropology since 2010, she is attached to the Faculty of Labour Relations and Social Work. She is a lecturer on the following courses:  the Degree in Social Work, the Master's in Feminist and Gender Studies, the Master's in Social Anthropology, the postgraduate course in Social and Healthcare Ethics and the experience classrooms on the Álava Campus.

She is a member of the AFIT -Feminist Anthropology- research group and her lines of research are public policies on equality, old age, friendship and social movements and group solidarity. As an AFIT researcher, she has participated in several R+D+i research projects and other public calls for proposals. The results of her studies have been published as journal articles and book chapters (ORCID 0000-0003-2553-4415). She has participated in congresses presenting papers (Donostia-San Sebastian, 2022) and communications (Valdivia, 2012; Tarragona, 2014; Valencia, 2017; Bilbao, 2021; Granada, 2024), as part of the organising committee (Donostia-San Sebastian, 2022) and coordinating panels (Valencia, 2017). She also collaborates with the social base of the city of Vitoria-Gasteiz in various research initiatives, including the School of Feminist Empowerment (feminist research work contests; 2022, 2023 and 2024) and with the Sareak Josten platform (collaborative research on young immigrants not accompanied by their families, from 2023 up to the present).

Since 2017, she has been Vice Dean of the Faculty of Labour Relations and Social Work. She was initially Vice Dean for Curricular Internships and Development Cooperation (2017-2021) and then coordinator of the Section and Vice Dean for Equality and Internationalisation (2021 - to date).

In addition to the above, she has pursued her studies in anthropology around issues relating to Basque culture and society. From 2019 to 2023 she was president of the José Miguel de Barandiaran Foundation, a section of Eusko Ikaskuntza. Since 2017, she has been a member of the editorial board of the EuskoFolklore yearbook. She has published several works on Basque culture in journals and with publishing houses such as Ankulegi (2003), Zainak (2012), Kobie (2013), RIEV (2015), the publishing house of the Chartered Provincial Council of Álava (2017), the EuskoFolklore yearbook (2020/2021) and Jakin (2023), among others.
