Curriculum Vitae
He graduated in Economics at the UPV/EHU, has a Master’s in Development Economics from the SOAS and a PhD in the PhD Programme in Development Studies at the UPV/EHU.
He has been working on the Bizkaia Campus, at the Faculty of Economics and Business (Sarriko), and as a tenured lecturer in the Department of Applied Economics since 2003.
There he lectures on the subjects: Development Economics in the Undergraduate Degree course in Economics, Structure and Dynamics of the World Economic System, and Globalisation, Labour Relations and Social Protection in the official university Master's Degrees in Globalisation and Development and Development and Cooperation.
The main lines of work in his research and publications revolve around international economics and human development, in particular food sovereignty, human development and international trade. This research work was conducted in the Department, in the Consolidated Research Group on Human Security, Local Human Development and International Cooperation of the Hegoa University Institute for International Cooperation and Development (IT1434-22) and in the working group of the Territories in Conflict projects of the Gernika Gogoratuz Institute for Peace Studies.
He is Academic Secretary of the Department of Applied Economics and has extensive experience in institutional and social representation in the various representative bodies of the UPV/EHU, such as the Academic Senate (2008-2017; 2020-24), the Governing Council (2008-16; 2020-), the Personnel Board (2007-), the Planning and Negotiation Commissions (2005-15, 2021-24), the Inter-sectoral Commission for Equality (2014-15) and the Basque Language Commission (2024-).
