Welcome to the website of the Asymmetric Catalysis and Chemical Synthesis research group, which is affilliated with the Department of Organic Chemistry I of the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU. The group laboratories and main resources are located in the Faculty of Chemical Sciences at Donostia-San Sebastián (Spain). This website is intended to provide some useful information about our research activities and group members.

After been set in the early 80's by Prof. Claudio Palomo, the group has carried out research in the area of organic synthesis ever since, with work ranging from general chemical methodology, ß-lactam chemistry and peptidomimetics to asymmetric synthesis. The ultimate goal is the development of both innovative concepts and practical tools for chemical synthesis, which will in turn ease the access to molecules of interest to the society, especially in the biorelated areas.
