GENERAL MAGNETIC MEASUREMENT SERVICE OF THE UPV/EHU
Areas of application
Diamagnetism, Paramagnetism, Ferromagnetism, Ferrimagnetism, Antiferromagnetism and any other type of magnetism tend to be subject to study using magnetometers at the Magnetic Measurement Service.
Using two cryogenic platforms (MPMS7T and CFMS) and Faraday scales, the range of temperatures accessible for magnetometric experiments is great, as it covers from 2K to 1000K.
The SQUID magnetometer ensures sensitivity and excellent repeatability, which will both prove essential when the quantity of sample mass available happens to be very small (e.g. high dilution, thin film). If intense magnetic fields are required with good sensitivity, the VSM enables hysteresis cycles to be extended to intense magnetic fields -14T -without consumption of cryogenic liquids(CFMS).
The use of specific devices to measure electrical transportation properties in cryogenic platforms with superconducting magnets enables magnetoresistance to be studied - between 2K and 400 K in intense fields. A specific measuring system is also available which is set aside for the study of magnetotransport via a continuous flow cryostat of cryogenic liquid (He or N liquid).
All the above is combined with a very versatile spin resonance laboratory (paramagnetics, ferromagnetics), as it is equipped with four microwave bridges in bands X, Q, L and S and two electromagnets..
