SCIENTIFIC COMPUTING SERVICE
Access
The clusters are accessible to all researchers of the UPV/EHU through ssh, after having requested an account (see the link below). However, before starting running calculations, a project must be registered applying for cpu time (see the link below).
UPV/EHU researchers, external public or private institutions can also use the IZO-SGI resources. See rates. The cluster Pendulo use is free for UPV/EHU researchers.
In order to access the IZO-SGI servers, is necessary to use the ssh client. In UNIX/LINUX (including Mac OSX) machines you just need to write in the terminal:
ssh -X user@arina.lgp.ehu.es
ssh -X user@guinness.lgp.ehu.es
ssh -X user@maiz.lgp.ehu.es
ssh -X user@arinaz.lgp.ehu.es
ssh -X user@pendulo.lgp.ehu.es
The -X will allow us to run graphical applications remotely.
In Windows computers there are various ssh tools available, like Putty, Secure Shell, etc. In order to use remote graphic applications in windows an xserver is needed Cygwin or NX (recommended) are two options.
In order to use remote graphical applications like StarCD, StarCCM+, ADF, Maestro, ECCE, … we strongly recommend the use of NX in windows and Linux, the graphic applications will run faster when used with NX. The installation is straight forward, you have pay attention at the time of selecting the server you want to choose (Maiz, Guinness or Pendulo).
General rules
Access to the unit of Scientific Computing Service involves meeting the requirements set forth in the Protocol for access to SGIker and the services it provides.
