Description:

This paper presents a preventive-educational proposal targeting the population of families with children within the age range between 0 and 2 years. The objective is to raise awareness among families about the risks to children's psychological development of the uncontrolled use of electronic devices. The proposal is consistent with the recommendation issued by health and educational institutions urging the non-use of digital devices before two years of age. The methodology used consists of a review phase gathering the available literature on the subject from which a group of empirical findings is obtained. The contents to be transmitted to the families are articulated through the experiential-constructivist methodology. As a result, audiovisual material and a preventive-educational brochure are produced in which families are informed of the risks associated to an unregulated exposure to digital devices. These include the development of addictions, problems in psychological development, obesity, etc. Likewise, families are encouraged to develop parental skills that promote self-regulation abilities in their children. The discussion highlights the usefulness of the material developed in implementing educational actions with families from the perspective of positive parenting.
