The Department of Neurosciences is composed of the area of Human Anatomy and Embryology, Psychiatry and Neurology.

The area of Human Anatomy and Embryology teaches in the degrees of Medicine, Dentistry and Physiotherapy in the Faculty of Medicine and Nursing of the Campus of Bizkaia, as well as in the degrees of Pharmacy and Dietetics and Nutrition in the Faculty of Pharmacy of the Campus of Araba.

Teaching in Psychiatry and Neurology is carried out in the Medicine degrees of the teaching units of Bizkaia (University Hospitals of Cruces, Basurto and t Galdakao), Gipuzkoa (Donostia University Hospital) and Araba (Araba University Hospital) and Medicine, Dentistry and Physiotherapy of the Faculty of Medicine and Nursing of the Bizkaia Campus.

In the Postgraduate Teaching section, the Department manages the "Master in Neurosciences", in which various professors of Human Anatomy and Embryology, Psychiatry and Neurology participate, as well as the  “Interuniversity Doctoral Program in Neurosciences”, which has a favorable report of ANECA quality agency. It also organizes the "Specific Master's Degree in Comprehensive Care in Palliative Care".

The lines of the departmental research groups are mainly related to the analysis of the nervous system, both from a basic and clinical point of view. Other lines are oriented to the development of improvement strategies in the educational field.
