International Strategic Plan for the University of the Basque Country
In a globalized world, the internationalization of higher education is a key element that must be promoted decisively. Universities face two major challenges: first, they must be prepared to train people capable of working in a multilingual and multicultural environment; and secondly, they must become known and recognized internationally also for the quality of their training as this will allow them to attract students from other countries.
The University of the Basque Country is open to the world and compares itself with the best universities in Europe and the world. If we want to live up to these standards, internationalization must permeate all university activity. For this reason, the UPV/EHU attaches great importance to the internationalization of training and promotes cooperation with universities and institutions around the world.
Internationalization goes beyond the mobility of students and staff. It also refers to the possibility of studying in a third language, the internationalization of the curriculum and the promotion of international double degrees, because, in addition to technical knowledge, the acquisition of linguistic and intercultural skills, and the ability to adapt to changing environments are increasingly valued in the world of work.
