AimsTo provide an updated point of view of the main problems that concern applied marine research
To develop a critical view of marine research
To put the students in contact with reputated scientists in the fields of marine environment and resources
Learning & Teaching
Yearly a general workshop will be held in the facilities of the R&D Center for Experimental marine Biology and Biotechnology (Plentziako Itsas-Estazioa; PIE-UPV/EHU), where students from two consecutive academic years will share experiences for 1 week. Awarded Master Thesis will be presented there to an audience that will include students with MSc CTA degree (awarded Master Thesis) and those starting the courses of Semester 1 (compulsory module, 1+ weeks, 4 ECTS), teaching staff from UPV/EHU and associated research centers and world-wide reputated environmental scientists participating as guest lecturers and examiners.
Main topics will include, among others, and will be subjected to change in order to provide updated and transversal viewpoint of most relevant issues in environmental contamination and toxicology:
Ecosystem health assesment in water and soil ecosistems
Environmental Risk Assessment and Regulatory Toxicology
Emerging and persistent pollutants
Pollution effects in cultural heritage
Environmental specimen banking
Nanotoxicity
Human risk assessment and Public health
