Alberto Gómez Caballero completed the degree of Pharmacy at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) and subsequently undertook post-graduate studies, being awarded the PhD degree in 2007. From then on, he has given lectures at undergraduate and postgraduate (master and PhD) levels as a member of the Department of Analytical Chemistry at the Faculty of Pharmacy (UPV/EHU). Since 2016, he serves as associate professor at the UPV/EHU and he holds two 5-year lecturing periods. He is also a temporary member of the University Commission for Instructional Evaluation (between 2018 and 2021).

He is member of the MetaboloMIPs research group (A level group from the Basque University System, IT1186-19) and he has participated in more than 25 research contracts and projects at national and international levels. He holds three 6-year research periods, examined by the National Commission for the Evaluation of Research Activity (CNEAI), and a research career of more than 18 years. Within this period, he has co-authored 38 research articles in international journals (h:20), 3 book chapters and more than 30 presentations at international conferences. Furthermore, he has supervised 3 doctorate theses and 19 Ms theses. He also serves as editor of chemistry in the journal EKAIA (UPV/EHU) and as reviewer in international journals. Currently, his research focuses on molecular imprinting technology to develop biomimetic MIP based receptors, at nanoscale level, for biomedical analysis.
