When we speak of Education, we must take into account the many changes that have taken place in recent times, which have led us to a new scenario in which the competencies and abilities of students take precedence over their mere theoretical knowledge.

Within this general panorama, the current educational system seeks to form students who, in an autonomous way, are capable of knowing their own learning processes and strategies and of using that knowledge to learn not only in the classroom, but also outside it. In this context, attention to different ages and their particular traits, to factors that influence learning, to affective elements and their implications, to the role of new techniques and methodologies... has become much more relevant.

For this reason, in order to highlight the great questions of Education at the present time and to answer them from the different areas of knowledge involved, the First Education Congress will be held on 3rd and 4th of June 2019 in the Faculty of Education of Bilbao.

This event will try to serve as a meeting point to carry out a broad reflection on Education, in which all the researchers of the different Faculties of Education of the University of the Basque Country/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea are invited to participate.

This event is organised around four main thematic lines:

1. Education and development of the person.
2. Active methodologies in Education.
3. Resources and materials in Education.
4. Education and Society.
