Harea-Coastal Geology is a consolidated research group (IT976-16) formed in 2005 by academic and research staff of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) and other national and international centres. It carries out multiproxy geological studies (sedimentology, geochemistry, micropalaeontology, topography, radiometric datation) in order to characterize the natural and anthropogenic processes involved in the environmental transformation of the coastal area during the last climatic cycle.

This research group is included in the Formation and Research Unit in Quaternary: Environmnetal Changes and Human Fingerprint (UFI11/09).
