Juanjo Unzilla holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering (1990), and Ph.D. in communications engineering (1999), and is professor in the Communications Engineering Department at UPV/EHU, where he teaches subjects related to telecommunications networks and services. He is co-founder and member of the I2T Research Group (i2t.ehu.eus), where he has participated as a co-research leader in 2 national (Spain) and main researcher in 7 regional (Basque Country) research projects and as a researcher in 3 European projects, 5 national projects and 28 regional (Basque Country) research projects. He also has been main researcher in 15 projects with SMEs in the Basque Country and researcher in other 12. His research interests include SDN and NFV in 5G networks, network security, and blockchain applications in industry 4.0. He is coauthor of 29 papers in journals (20 indexed) and more than 30 communications in international conferences and more than 40 in national conferences. He has supervised 2 PhD thesis and co-supervised two more. He has been Vice-chancellor of Coordination (2011-2013) and Vice-chancellor of Teaching and Research staff (2004-2011) at the University of the Basque Country, and Head of the Department of Electronic and Telecommunication (2001-2004) in the same university. He is one of the co-founder of the spin-off Keynetic (2017) focused on cybersecurity services to SMEs. Since 2021 is Vice-chancelor of Digital Transformation and Communication at UPV/EHU.
