MSc in Physics (Astrophysics) at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (2001) and PhD with honors by the UPV/EHU (2005). From 2011 to 2020 he was a Senior Researcher at the Applied Physics I Department in the Faculty of Engineering of Bilbao. He was a visiting researcher at the University of Oxford (UK), under the Jose Castillejo mobility program. He is currently Senior Lecturer at the Applied Physics Department (UPV/EHU)
His teaching duties include undergraduate engineering students and subjects at Master Degree level, in particular within the Master in Space Science and Technology, where he teaches Astronomy and Astrophysics, among others. He is involved in the Aula EspaZio, managing the astronomical observatory T50. He has advised 3 PhD students (1 with honors, 1 international mention) and numerous degree and master theses.
His research is focused on the study of sunlight reflected by the planetary atmospheres, in the context of the Planetary Sciences Group UPV/EHU, where he has worked with data from a number of ground-based telescopes and space missions, including orbiters and surface missions. He is co-author of more than 60 scientific international peer-reviewed papers.
He is also very involved in public outreach, participating in “La mecánica del Caracol” (EiTB) broadcast, giving many scientific talks and taking part in a number of outreach initiatives. He published in 2019 his book “Atmósferas Planetarias” within the Astro series at M
