Graduated in Psychology on 1985 and a PhD in Psyhology on 1992, Joxean Iraola is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Psychology (UPV/EHU) since 2000. He teaches subjects related to basic psychological processes, such as Learning, Behavior and Cognition, and Memory and Decision Making. He has been evaluated by the program Docentiaz in two different times, obtaining always the maximum score (excellent).

He has been in different academic positions: 1) Academic secretary of the Department of Basic Psychological Processes and its Development (1990-1995), 2) Academic secretary of the Faculty of Psychology (2001-2004), and 3) Associate Dean for Quality at the Faculty of Psychology (2004-2008). Since 2012 he is de Director of the Department of Basic Psychological Processes and its Development.

For his scientific carrier, he has done two scientifical stays at the University of London (summer of 1991) and University of York (summer of 1997). His main contributions have been related to Condicioned Taste Aversion (poisoned partner effect) and Perceptual Learning.
