Acquired skills
These are the main competences for which this degree will qualify you:
- The ability to communicate. Organised expression of ideas orally and in writing.
- To acquire the knowledge and capabilities for embarking as a Cadet Bridge Officer on a placement, pursuant to the requirements of section A-II/1 of the STCW code.
- To analyse and assess the social and environmental impact of technical solutions, as well as occupational risk prevention both on land and at sea, upholding a commitment to the environment.
- To be capable of working in a team, in a multilingual and multidisciplinary environment, and drafting reports for the disclosure of knowledge and results. The ability to learn and continuously refresh their knowledge.
- To comfortably handle specifications, manuals, regulations and rules of mandatory compliance.
- To manage and organise the necessary activities for the proper operation of a vessel's navigation and cargo installations, as well as the different aspects of the port or marine facilities. The ability to draft and manage projects related to these activities.
- To resolve problems with initiative, decision-making, creativity, critical reasoning, as well as reporting and conveying knowledge, skills and abilities.
- To understand the basic subjects and technology to enable students to learn new methods and theories, instilling in them the considerable versatility required to adapt to new situations.
- To understand the organisation of companies. Know how to organise, plan and manage departments with human and material resources.
- To undertake inspections, measurements, assessments, valuations, surveys, studies, reports, work plans and certifications at facilities within the sphere of their specialism, both within the nautical-marine ambit and onshore.
