Elena Leiñena Mendizabal is Professor of Commercial Law at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). She holds a degree in Law (1993) and Economics and Business Administration (1982) from the UPV/EHU. PhD in Social, Legal and Economic Sciences (2008) from the University of Barcelona.



She is a bilingual lecturer at the UPV/EHU since 1998 and teaches in the Master's Degree in Law (Faculty of Law), in the Degree and double Degree in Labor Relations - Human Resources and Business Management and in the Degree in Advertising and Public Relations.



She is a member of the structured teaching team IKD Ecodefi (UPV/EHU) and se has published teaching material (IKD model) and handbooks in Basque and Spanish.



She is a researcher in several R+D+i projects of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities and is part of the consolidated research group of the Basque University System on business ethics (category A).



Her lines of research are competition law, company law, transport law and gender equality in commercial law.

She is a contributor to the Journals Revista de Derecho Mercantil and Revista de Derecho del Transporte.

She participates in the organization of the Conference on Company Law, Advertising Law and the Conference on Economics, Business and Gender at the UPV/EHU.



She is a Director of Gender Equality of the University and President of Arbitration Colleges of the Basque Consumer Arbitration Board.
